Storing and Displaying Jewelry - Turn Your Jewelry Into a Work of Art
by Denise Sanger
If you like simplicity and convenience, then one of the new mirrored hanging jewelry cases is the ideal storage method for you. It just looks like an ordinary mirror on the wall but you can open it to lots of great storage spots for all of your necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and rings. This allows you to keep jewelry safe and secure and have a mirror handy to put it on when you make your selection
For a more creative storage idea, get one of those wooden racks that are designed to hold spools of thread and hang it on your wall. You can hang necklaces, bracelets, and rings on the wooden pegs in whatever arrangement works best for you.
Need a great way to store pierced earrings? Use a piece of cross stitch plastic and affix a piece of ribbon to hang it from. The holes are just the right size to put your earrings through and hold them on with the backs. If you are really creative, paint a piece of the canvas to match your room or decor and you will have a unique place to display your earrings!
If you can't figure out what to do with all those beaded necklaces, just get little plastic clips and hang them around your lamp shade. Not only will it give you a place to keep them with their getting tangled up, you will also have a new beaded lampshade!
Create a one-of-a-kind bulletin board. You can "stick" each piece in its own area to keep it separated from the others. You can also post pictures of you wearing some of the pieces so that you know how they look on you to help you make your choice for the next time.
Get a glass top display table. You can find these in all sizes so you can find one that is relatively inexpensive to fit in any room. Just raise the top or open a drawer to place jewelry inside. You can also use decorative dishes like bowls or teacups to place pieces in and build an even more impressive display.
Fun jewelry should be displayed in an equally fun way! Use stuffed animals, ceramic dogs or dolls to place your jewelry on and make a charming display for any room. While there are some pieces available on the market for just this purpose, you can find others that are less expensive that will work just as well.
Use a large picture frame with wires strung across the back (three or more depending on the size of the frame). Get clips and attach jewelry randomly on the wires. You can hang your "frame" on the wall or place it on an easel to properly display your art.
When you use your imagination, it's easy to come up with ways to store and display your jewelry so that you and your guests can enjoy it all the time, not just when you wear it!
