The appetite for antiques on eBay continues to grow strong.
Thousands of antiques are auctioned on a daily basis. Antiques ranging from old oil paintings to vintage porcelain to Asian furniture are bought and sold on eBay.
As diverse as the categories are on eBay, so are the tastes of those eBay buyers.
You can find buyers for antiques on eBay for in almost any category.Provided that you have a good understanding of what you are auctioning, and have good sourcing skills, you can develop a strong eBay antique business.
Initially you will need to focus your efforts on learning the antique business. Books such asHow to Make $20,000 a Year in Antiques and Collectibles Without Leaving Your Job by Bruce Johnson can give you a strong foundation of the business side of the antique market.
To learn more about antiques you might want to read Kovels' Antiques & Collectibles Price List, 39th Edition, by Terry Kovel. The book can give you a basic but comprehensive education about antiques. You can also use the guide to determine values for the antiques you find.
Next, start visiting local flea markets and garage sales to find antiques. Take along your books but leave them inside your car. If a seller sees your books and realizes that you are a dealer, he will raise the price of his items. He will assume that the item that interests you has more value than he realizes.
Once you find an item that interests you negotiate so that you can purchase it a price low enough to sell it profitably on eBay.
